The Global Food Crisis
Global Village is a series of workshops and events developed by the JCC and Tzedek and led by people who work in the field of international development. Come along, get involved and join the discussion.
Over the past few months, we have seen pictures reminiscent of Ethiopiain the 1980’s. Described by the Head of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) as ‘a silent tsunami which knows no borders sweeping the world’, food shortages and rising prices are plunging millions more peopleinto severe malnutrition. To mark World Food Day, Jay Rayner, restaurant critic for The Observer and presenter of Channel 4 Dispatches ‘The Truth About Food Prices’ will be in conversation with David Hallam from the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation discussing how this situation has arisen, and whether anything can be done to prevent famine spreading. Sheila Dillon, presenter of Radio 4’s Food Programme, will chair the panel.
In partnership with Tzedek.
