The Age of Stupid

(UK 2009, dir: Franny Armstrong. 92 mins, English)

WITH GUEST SPEAKER, SECRETARY OF STATE ED MILIBAND

The Age Of Stupid is the new cinema documentary from Franny Armstrong, the Director of McLibel and the Producer of the Oscar-winning One Day In September.

This enormously ambitious drama-documentary-animation hybrid stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching “archive” footage from 2008 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change while we had the chance?

This is the launch of the Jewish Social Action Forum’s Environmental Campaign, and we are delighted that Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband, will be joining us after the screening of the film for a Q & A chaired by journalist Jonathan Freedland.

This event is hosted by the Jewish Social Action Forum.

Winner of 5 Israeli Academy Awards, Joy is a funny and moving modern fairy tale. Set in Tel Aviv around the time of Yom Kippur, the film follows the struggles of Joy Levine – an overweight, homely girl who wants to reunite her fractured family and friends with her lonely parents at a televised friends & family reunion. Along the way, she uncovers family secrets and discovers both self-respect and an unusual Prince Charming.
