JCC - Jewish Journeys

Jewish Theatreland

It’s not quite Broadway but it’s as close as London gets.

Take a tour of London’s Theatreland with Blue Badge Guide Rachel Kolsky and explore its connections with Jewish actors, impresarios, writers and producers. The cast includes Lionel Bart, Lord Delfont, Barbara Streisand, Jonathan Miller, Arnold Wesker and many more. Credits are also due to Lyons for refreshments, Moss Bros for the costumes and Freed for the dance shoes. The tour lasts for around two hours with no interval, ending near Covent Garden.

Old Jewish East End

with Sandys Row shul

The Jewish community may no longer live in Spitalfields but the streets and buildings still evoke memories of the synagogues, Yiddish theatre, schools and soup kitchens. Our walking tour with Blue Badge Guide Rachel Kolsky ends with a visit to the hidden gem of Sandys Row Synagogue. Remodelled within an 18th century Huguenot chapel for the early Dutch Jewish community, this synagogue, founded in 1854, is one of the oldest in London.
