Chi Chi Bunichi
We offer you a sneak preview of a new performance, Chi Chi Bunichi. Part-dance and part-theatre, it revolves around recordings of the same Ladino song – performed by director Daphna Attias’s own great-grandfather and grandmother, separated by 40 years and by a Diaspora.
Chi Chi Bunichi is a personal take on displacement: of a grandmother singing to those who remember but no longer understand; of love letters preserved in jam, food hidden in the clothing of a child at a check-point, and chocolate melting in the hand of the spectator. Chi Chi is the meeting of seven artists working across their disciplines of theatre, dance, movement, music, and sound design.
The JCC has linked up with Radio Gagarin to give
